I received my Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training certificate through YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide, Inc. in 2014 and my PreNatal/PostPartum certificate in 2016. In 2019, I received certifications in Anatomy & Alignment and YogaKids through YogaFit Training Systems Worldwide, Inc.
I currently teach Yinyasa Yoga classes, a cross between Yin yoga and Vinyasa yoga, through my local community association. Yin yoga for flexibility, mindfulness and relaxation. Vinyasa yoga for strength, fitness and flow. Each class includes dynamic active sequences for the muscles, blood and skin, as well as static passive poses for the joints, bones and connective tissues. By bringing both Yin and Yang aspects to each class we can experience the benefits of both styles of yoga. Beginning your yoga practice with Yin can help clear the mind before bringing your attention to the body during Vinyasa. Ending your yoga practice with Yin can help calm the nervous system and releases tension in preparation for Savasana. This class is accessible to beginners as well as experienced yogis. We can all benefit from finding some balance. These sessions are typically a series of 8 1-hour classes. Each series has a new theme and each week during Savasana we reflect on one element of the theme. Every class is infused with Integrative Health and Positive Psychology teachings.
I recently began teaching Kids Yoga, directed at children ages 6-12, which includes both dynamic and static poses for building self-esteem, confidence, body awareness, strength, flexibility, and concentration. Each week we discuss an aspect of yoga that can be practiced on and off the mat: breathwork, mindfulness, alignment, energy flow, relaxation, cooperation, etc. Practicing yoga helps to connect the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga also brings people together. When we practice yoga, we let go of judgement or competition, which helps us to build cooperation and community.
